Whole School Rewards and Sanctions in KS1 and KS2
We have updated the way we reward and sanction children at Rushey Green Primary School and want to share with you the updated system.
Stars of the Week – Teachers will select two pupils who have shown exceptional learning and behaviour consistently throughout the week.
Headteacher’s Awards – These are awarded to children who have shown amazing learning throughout the week.
A Traffic Light System is used. All children start the day on Green which represents expected good behaviour.
Expected Good Behaviour.
- Verbal warning can be given.
Time-out within the classroom.
- Child sent to a partner class with their learning for 10 minutes.
- Reflection Room at lunchtime with a Senior Leader.
If your child is sent to the reflection room, a letter will be sent home to advise you of the reason and we ask that you talk to your child about their behaviour. Reasons for being sent to Reflection Room may include:
- Inappropriate use of language.
- Not respecting school property.
- Lack of respect to others.
- Continually not following instructions.
- Continued lack of effort in class.
This list is not exhaustive.
If a child visits the Reflection Room three times in a term, you will be asked to attend a meeting to discuss your child’s behaviour and any actions to be put in place.
We value good behaviour and appreciate your support in maintaining high standards and expectations.
You may be aware of the ‘Phonics Screening Check’ that was introduced by the Department of Education for all year 1 children. The purpose of the Year 1 phonics screening check is to confirm whether individual children have learnt phonic decoding to an appropriate standard.
