We are excited to become an OPAL - Outdoor Play and Learning School.

OPAL is based on the idea that, as well as learning through good teaching, children also learn when they play. As 20% of their time in school is playtime, we want to make sure that this amount of time (equivalent to 1.4 years of primary school) is as good as possible.

Article 31 of the UNCRC  (the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child)  says that children and young people have the right to have fun in the way they want to, whether by playing sports, watching films, or doing something else entirely

As the school improves play opportunities for our children, you may find we might ask you for resources while we make changes about how the children use the school grounds. Children may also use more of the grounds, for more of the year.  The experiences the school is fostering are essential for children’s physical and mental well-being and health and in line with all current good practice advice on health and safety, well-being and development.
