Admissions

Admissions to Rushey Green Primary School

Primary schools in Lewisham are among the top performing schools in the country. Last year, children leaving primary schools in Lewisham achieved the fourth best results in the country.

We are more than happy to offer tours of the school for in-year admissions and welcome any questions or queries; admin@rusheygreen.lewisham.sch.uk

If you are offered a place at Rushey Green, you will be invited in to have an admissions interview where you can look round the school and meet with the Headteacher before you start.

Legally, children must receive full-time education from the beginning of the school term following their fifth birthday.

If your child is already in a nursery place he/she will NOT automatically transfer to a school place, so you must apply to Lewisham Council

Pupil Premium Funding

What is Pupil Premium?

Every child from Reception upwards, who has either been in Local Authority Care, or has been entitled to Free School Meals at any time in the last 6 years, is eligible for Pupil Premium funding. This funding is given directly to schools to provide additional resources and support to ensure that all children reach their potential. We are totally committed to ensuring that our provision maximises the progress made by all pupils and ensures that they fulfil their potential.  We feel that this is best achieved by ensuring that all teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all pupils regardless of their background or starting point.

Through our provision and allocation of funding, we address all forms of disadvantage and work to ensure inclusion and equal access for all learners. Pupil premium funding is allocated to children in receipt of free school meals and is a means of addressing some of the issues associated with social disadvantage and in particular, in narrowing and eventually closing, any gap in attainment.

For our pupils, typically this gap can be seen in limited access to extra-curricular and extended learning activities, lack of support for home learning, punctuality and attendance, confidence in parenting particularly in the early years and language acquisition.  While making appropriate provision for this, we all acknowledge that not all pupils in receipt of free school meals are disadvantaged.  However, many of our pupils have had a difficult time before coming to our school and the pupil premium funding is used to support vulnerable children with their education and well being to close the gap that sometime exists between them and their peers.
